The Most Powerful Street-Legal BMW

The 2024 BMW XM is a four-door SAV with standard all-wheel drive with a bias for the rear wheels. The BMW XM specs include a TwinPower Turbo 4.4-liter V-8 with plug-in hybrid technology. The plug-in hybrid SUV has a 25.7-kWh battery pack for about 30 miles of all-electric range. The V8 and electric motor combine to deliver 644 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, giving it a 60 MPH time of 4.1 seconds. Charging the BMW XM with a Level 2 charger takes about three hours.

The top speed in the Label Red is 175 MPH when the M Driver’s package is added. Otherwise, the top speed is 155. The 60 MPH time is a mind-flowing 3.7 seconds.

The EPA-estimated fuel rating for the BMW XM is 12/17 MPG. When in fully-electric mode, the EPA-estimated fuel rating is 49 MPGe. The BMW XM Label Red has not been evaluated by the EPA. The large battery pack gives the BMW XM a gross vehicle weight of slightly more than 6,000 pounds, but the SAV has a refined steering that defies its size and substance.

Technology in the BMW XM

The futuristic and brutalist styling of the BMW XM includes a collection of high-tech interior equipment. The large curve arching display includes the BMW iDrive 8.5 operating system with customizable M-specific displays. The display stretches two-thirds of the dashboard and has wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a Harman-Kardon audio system.
